My mother fell in love with her sister’s patio table bought from Crate and Barrel.  She was intent on purchasing one for herself.  I thought the design was elegant, but could be made even more so.  I asked her to hold on to the approx. $1700.00 that the table sold for.  After a couple of days I built one almost exactly like the one her sister owned, with a few design elements of my own, such as the ability for the matching bench seats to be able to slide completely under the table to become flush with the overall footprint.  I also added a “hammered” finish to the paint on the metal frame which I built out of 2″ tube steel and steel recycled from old IT racks.  The finished redwood planks were sealed so that their natural beauty added to the overall design and matched other redwood elements in their back yard.
