For this classic, I wanted to present a “film noir” appeal to the aesthetic and work with the students on how to present that kind of “cinema” appeal on a live stage. Once again, we used the projectors to display images that enforced the scene presented on stage. Since this show was simple, and only had three locations to present, they were built into a unit set and we used focused area pools to direct attention to where the audience needed to focus. Different students were responsible for different scenic elements and I facilitated the collaboration between them so that they would blend as one design from the viewpoint of the observer.
